Helping parents, educators, and helping professionals create more calm, connection, and resilience by understanding the nervous system—from the body up.

Behavior is only the surface. When we understand the brain and body beneath it, we can create real change—through regulation, connection, and safety.

Hi, I’m Tami.

I’m an educator, movement teacher, Pilates instructor, and nervous system guide with more than 40 years of experience supporting children, families, educators, and communities.

I created Move Into Calm to help children and the adults who support them build regulation, connection, and resilience from the body up—through movement, breath, nervous system awareness, and play.

My work bridges neuroscience, child development, education, and movement to help adults look beyond behavior and better understand what the nervous system may be communicating.

Because regulation isn’t something we simply ask of children.

It’s something we build with them.

Through professional development, school and community workshops, parent education, and individual support, I give adults practical, body-based tools they can use in real-life moments—not just when everything is already calm.

My approach begins with a simple belief:

When the body feels safe, connection becomes possible.
And when connection is present, learning, regulation, and growth can follow.

Organizations & Programs I’ve Worked With

My work has supported educators, children, families, and professionals through schools, early childhood programs, universities, nonprofit organizations, and community programs, including:

  • Community libraries, family programs, and wellness organizations throughout Genesee County

Movement Is Also at the Heart of My Work

I’m also the owner of Studio T Pilates, where I work with adults through Pilates, mindful movement, strength, mobility, and body awareness.

The same philosophy runs through both sides of my work:
the body matters.

Whether I’m working with a child, an educator, a parent, or a Pilates client, I help people develop a deeper connection with their bodies and discover how intentional movement can support strength, awareness, confidence, and well-being.

The Move into Calm Method:

Connection

Co-regulation is where healing begins.

Through shared activities and mindful presence, adults and children learn to attune, mirror, and feel seen — building trust, safety, and emotional resilience together.

Movement

Movement is language.

From stretching and swaying to playful balance and grounding, each guided practice helps release tension, build core strength, and create space for calm energy to flow.

Because when motion calms emotions, families thrive.

Nervous System

Everything begins here.

Learn how stress, emotions, and sensory experiences shape your body’s responses — and how gentle, rhythmic movement supports regulation.

Discover the science behind calm and how to bring your nervous system from survival into safety.

At the heart of this work is relationship, safety, and presence.
